Chairman - Mark Bell, CPP
 
Mark Bell is currently employed with Paladin Security as the Security Manager for Kwantlen University College.  Mark has 15 years of varied experience in the Security industry specializing is Shopping Centers, Office Buildings and Post Secondary. He  spent 21 years in retail prior to his Security career.  He moved to Canada from the United States in 1992.
 
Mark is Board certified as a Certified Protection Professional and is looking forward to working to continue and grow our ASIS Chapter.
 
He and his wife are the parents of four children.

Vice Chairman - Gary Lok, CPP

Gary M. Lok, CPP, has 16 years experience in the Security Industry including Senior Management, Supervisory & Sales/ Client services experience.   Gary is a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) from ASIS International and is a licensed Security Consultant and Private Investigator.  

Gary is working as the Operations Manager for University of British Columbia Campus Security Department.

Secretary - Doug Powell, CPP, PSP

Doug is currently employed by BC Hydro as Manager, Corporate Security. He has 24 years diverse experience in the Security Industry, 21 in Security Management having started his career with Pinkerton where he managed Pinkerton’s British Columbia Operations from 1988 to 1996. Doug went on to manage within the Alarm industry as General Manager of Valley Alarms. Doug holds certificates related to CCTV installation and design, access control systems, alarm systems, and video monitoring. Doug has worked with security technologies as a Specifier and Integrator for more than ten years. In addition to his security management experience, Doug has demonstrated leadership in many areas of his life including as District Electoral Officer for Elections B.C.

Doug holds Board Certifications as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP) and Physical Security Professional (PSP). Doug is an active member of  the ASIS Canadian-Pacific Chapter and was one of the original members of this Chapter before moving to the alarm industry.


 

 

 

 


 

Treasurer - Mike Burns

Mike Burns is currently a Territory Manager for Mul-T-Lock Canada Inc. based out of Burnaby BC. Mike has been involved in the locksmith side of the physical security industry for over 25 years. Started as an apprentice with Pacific Lock and Safe in1980, he has held various institutional, management and ownership positions, in addition to over a decade in the wholesale / supply side. Currently a Journeyman Certified Locksmith in BC, he holds earned certifications from ALOA and SVATA as a Certified Master Locksmith and a Certified Professional Safe-technician. Mike completed training as an ACE locksmith instructor in 2006 and currently sits on the executive board of the BC Association of Security Professionals and on the advisory board of the BC Association of Professional Locksmiths.     

 

 

Geoffrey Thomas

Past Chairman - Geoffrey Thomas

Geoffrey Thomas currently holds the position of Business Development Manager for Siemens Canada. Geoffrey has over twenty years experience in the security industry, designing, consulting, and marketing a wide range of security services from simple residential alarm systems up to sophisticated campus wide integrated security systems.  He moved from England to Canada in 1980 and started his career in security with ADT in Edmonton, later transferring to the Vancouver branch of ADT in 1990. Geoffrey has a great deal of experience working with and advising a broad range of clients at every level on security issues and protection methods both electronic and procedural.  During his successful sales career Geoffrey has designed and sold a wide range of products and services from small Residential Alarm Systems up to large Integrated CCTV and Access Control Systems.

Geoffrey is married with two children.
